This is a guess, but that is the main clause of the question. Therefore, the puzzle is asking for a time, how fast you (people) can guess.

yes, and the answer is "seven seconds"
but i still havent understood why!!
heres a direct quote from the movie telling the person the solution:
| Quote: | "Seven seconds" is the solution."The dwarves and Snow White."
If there are seven dwarves dining...
and she serves seconds, that means "seven seconds." |
and yet i STILL cant see it,
if that can help in any way (and im sorry Ulink_agent if you already answered why, but im having trouble understanding your comment..i know they're asking for a time)

Well for this it only works by the use of the same words, but with different meanings. Don't expect a fully logical connection.
There are seven dwarves, and each has seconds, of whatever they are eating. The answer then is seven seconds.
Why?
No other reason than that the word seconds can apply to time, and that seven is a number and numbers apply to amounts of any kind of thing.
In this case "how fast" isn't actually asking you for a real unit of time, it is merely a small hint that time is connected to the answer in some way. \
The word "next" implies that the dwarves have already eaten something, so what would come "next" would be seconds, as they have had their 'firsts.'
As there are seven dwarves having seconds, there are then seven second helping being served, or "seven seconds." The phrase "how fast" is merely a clue to the answer referring to seconds, a measurement of time.
So the answer is seven seconds. It doesn't make sense in the usual way, but in a roundabout way it works.
In short, it's a play on words.

Hi, i am Italian, and i live in Sicily, so first of all please forgive my English's mystakes..i was looking around for a possible translation of a nice riddle i came acroos through the movie Life Is Beautil/ La vita è bella, an Italian movie, since i wanted to play this riddle to an American cousin i have, who have not seen the movie..and so i ended up to your conversation...
I would like to say that seems they could not give to this riddle a literary translantions, probably because it would have not worked..
i'll try to describe how the joke would work originally...
Originally, the riddle would concern about "where" Snow White is...
So in reality it would be something like -Snow White is around dwarfs.. now answer the question " where Snow White is?", answer the question in the time the solution gives to you-
May sound no sense or confusing, but believe me in Italian has a sense and it is a nice riddle.
The originally answer at this point would be something like - Around seven minutes-.
The joke is contained in the double meaning of our word "minuti" for you people problaby it just mean the time minutes, while for us -minuti- can mean minutes but also the kind of little body dwarfs have, the fact they are very short. So basically the answer then to the riddle's question is -Snow White is around seven minutes-.
Again, i know to translate literary is often impossible, but since i noticed the guy wh oposted the message did not well see the sense, i thought that maybe even trying to translate the riddle , changing it, did not work so great, how would be originally.
Well, i have no idea if i let pass the idea of its original sense, but however i tried...
bye from Sicily
