Well, this is my 10th post here and I want it to be special. This is a traditional riddle from my birthplace (I'll adapt it to english, including the name):

George Washington had it long,
the priest has it but doesn't use it (it may be a little different in the US),
the wife takes it from her husband,
soccer players use it all the time. (I made this last one up)

What is it?

i think its meant to be more universal, like priest would go by first names such as "father john" etc.

thats how i came to the answer anyhow!
