Hmm... The behead bits got me stuck >_< If it means taking away a letter, and head being the top of someone, I guess it'd be the first letter.
The first 5 letter word thats "solitary" that comes to mind is alone.

I guess that makes sense, ^_^
If not then I don't know what behead could be... grr too many different meanings T_T
