Agent in Training

You are training to become an secret agent. Your final training mission is to pass a test. You are put into a room with 3 switches and told that one of the switches turns on a incandescent light down the hall in a different room. It is your job to figure out which switch turns on the light bulb. You are allowed to make only one trip out of your room to the room with the light bulb.

(The doors to both rooms are closed and there is no way
to tell what is happening in the second room without taking your only trip
there)

The answer is you turn on the first two lights and wait 5-10 mins and then turn off the 1st switch, then you go down the hall if the light is off and warm its the 1st one, if the light is on its the second, if the light is off and cold its the 3rd
