Er, well an avvie (avatar) is the picture that appears under your username. (That seems to have disappeared from the profile page, though. 0.o) And a siggy (signature) is what appears under your post. Like an email signature or something. There's a signature box when editing your profile, but I've noticed they don't work...

The sigs in the forums are off because this forum has been spammed mercilessly since inception. After loathing the situation and neglecting the forum I finally cleaned house and took several steps to reduce incentive for spammers, including blocking sigs, links in profile, disabled html for awhile. Spam now even has it's own forum.

It seems to be helping, MUCH better than it used to be, down to a few a day.

I didn't even know there were avatars, i'll look into that.

Ah, well that makes a lot of sense. Come to think of it, I'd hate to see all the spam people would put into their siggies here...
