he could stay right where he is because he's already on land.

Five meters... a bit too far to jump, but if he were to run to the edge of the water, jump as far as he can, and swim violently to shore he should make it. As the pirhannas would probably have been attacking the sharks, and the sharks the pirhannas there would be enough blood in the water to distract the sharks and enough large fish to attack to distract most of the pirhannas, the man will probably manage to get to land without any life threatening injuries.

However, if (for the porposes of a riddle) the sharks and pirhanas have formed an alliance, then the man must cut himself, collect the blood and keep it in some way to prevent it from drying, then let himself heal and toss it into the water and escape the other side, his should cause enough of a frenzy for him to escape. Otherwise he's already on land.

I don't know, I kind of think more information is needed to solve the riddle, lke what does he have with him? Is this a deserted island?
