It took me about 2 seconds to figure this riddle out...

A guy gets sentenced to prison for murder. The prison he has to stay in is known mostly for its high death rate, luckily for him, he's friends with the prisons undertaker. One day as the undertaker is walking past his cell he whispers to him, "When the next person dies, hop into their coffin and at night I'll dig you out and you're free to go."
Two days later someone dies and like the undertaker told him to do, hops in their coffin. After about 30 minutes he reaches into his pocket and flicks his lighter on....He died instantly....How and/or Why?

Well, I don't know if I'm as certain about it, but there could be a few reasons.

The one most likely for an instant death would be a build up of methane inside the coffin from wither previous bodies, or the one that might in the coffin with him, open flame plus methane = dead, in this case.

Another slower way would be that the coffin might catch on fire, appropriate for you name, Blaze.

More likely than the coffin igniting, as a normal person wouldn't drop a lighter in a wooden container if they are inside it, would be if the lighter burned up the oxygen inside, but again, that would take some time and therefore not be instant.

I think corpses exude a certain small amount of methane, but I'm not so sure, something to do with pent up gasses or something, I don't know.

Good guess Unclever Title but thats not it. It doesn't have anything to do with the lighter as of such. If you want it could be a torch or phone light instead of a lighter.

Maybe he jumped into the coffin and when he flicked on the lighter he saw that dead guy that was supposed to be in the coffin..he was literally "scared to death"...hehe..??MAYBE??

Maybe when he turned his lighter/phone light on, he saw the dead body of the undertaker and got "scared to death" like red said..Just a guess...

The dead guy in the coffin had kerosine poured all over him and was burned and as people know kerosine is one of the most highly flammable liquids.

Sudden thought, perhaps the other person in the coffin wasn't dead after all, but waited silently until the guy trying to escape turned on the lighter and then stabbed him, or some other form of quick death.

Vertabladehot2m got it! When he turned on his lighter/torch etc. He saw the undertaker and died instantly from shock and/or fear.

man you people are stupid whats that methane shit thats not right not enough methane mate, the answer is that he suficated his lighter burned away all his oxygen im pretty sure thats the answer
