Fourth Riddle

Ive been gone for awhile guys, so I hope I didnt get rusty and I challenge you a bit!

I began in ‘animal dominoes’.
I tell a story with my show.

I display for you a theme
I may hang at times from a beam.

Over transparency I may hover,
Within a space, Within a structure.

Convents housed my creators,
And places with translators.

I can be soft and pliable
But sometimes I am breakable.

Interlaced are my matching sides,
With colors made from sheep’s hide.

What am I?
