this should be pretty easy coz i made it up myself.
a guy walks into a bank. he pulls out a shot gun and tells everyone to get down on the ground. he shoots the security guard and takes the keys to the safe. he then goes into the safe and fills to sacs with all the gold he could. he picks up the two sacs one in each hand, and is able to carry all the gold out with ease but as soon as he exits the bank he is takin down by one copper.
why would this make since?

Well, the one answer is that "copper" was a police officer.
A more creative answer is that the bank is a sky scraper and the penny was dropped from the roof. Through testing it has been discovered that a penny drop like that is not fatal, but it sure stings.

But,
Testing has shown that if you drop a penny from a sky scraper, the chances of it hitting anywhere within a block is like 0.1%. Wind currents are strong enough to send it flying elsewhere. (Myth Busters)

Yeah, I saw that episode too, and I fail to see how that disproves the more creative answer, o.1% is still a chance, a very remote chance, yes, but it still exists in the realm of possibility.
Second, I think that particular statistic is particularly specific for the Empire State building, I think, I really have no idea if it is actually more broad, but I don't think the wind patterns are the same for every sky scraper.
Also that really just makes the alternate answer easier, because the bank no longer needs to be a skyscraper, the penny could really be from any very tall building in the city and carried by the wind to drop on the bankrobber's head. I mean the penny has to hit the ground eventually, those would have to be some pretty strong updrafts to keep a penny perpetually airborn.
